Back In Action

Hey everybody! So its been a long long time since I posted anything, but to be fair, its been almost as long since I brewed and since this blog is about me brewing... you get the idea.  That's all behind us now as we here at FGB are back in the proverbial buffalo brewing sattle.. Today's brew was a simpler one, some sort of ESB/APA hybrid beer. I say ESB because it used an English malt (Marris Otter) and I say APA because I used an American Hop (Cascade) and an American yeast strain. What I'm really concerned about it being? Delicious! Call it what you want, but the Marris Otter and Cascades ( some of which came from FGB's very own hop fields) should make for one hell of a refreshing drinkable beer to push us through the fall. Look for this to be on tap at FGB's pumpkin event in a couple weeks.

You might be asking yourself what else does FGB have in store for me in these upcoming months? Well I'm not entirely certain. Coming soon you will see a spiced hard cider, and the annual holiday ale. We're taking Futurama themed name suggestions as always. Saturday after Thanksgiving we're looking forward to brewing our second annual big beers in big bottles series beer. Style is YTBD. Have a strong beer you want to see me brew and oak age and bottle? Let me know.

Thats about all for now.

June Bugs

Does anyone else remember when Cartoon Network used to run June Bugs in June? 24 hours of Bugs Bunny Cartoons... I'm thinking I might have to hit up youtube when I'm done here. Enough of my nostalging on Bugs Bunny. You're here about beer.

So what do I have to tell you? Well first off we say Adios to another fallen soldier: Adios MilkShake Stout.

We welcome aboard Jacked Up Graph The Cider Of Power aka True Weltall. This is an applejack oak chip aged version of Graph The Cider Of Power. It still has a refreshing apple flavor flowed up with vanilla and oak tones. I for one a thrilled with it and will be having one shortly.  Also now available is FGB's 5th anniversary beer GodSpeed You Black Emperor Stout. This massive imperial stout has a nice coffee flavor to complement its roastiness and does an excellent job hiding its 14% ABV.  In the near future keep an eye out for Marisa's Brown Aled Girl, and a new batch of PaulChuck Cider.  Possibly any Cesar Thaison that survives the solstice too. Wouldn't count on that last one though. Stay tuned for an announcement about FGB The BBQ later this summer.

Updates

Howdy folks.  Andrew from FGB here with a few pieces of news. First off, we've killed the keg of Your Mistletoe is no match for my TOW Missile and its been replaced with the new keg of FGB's first all grain beer Fat Tired & Lazy.  Also on tap is the Milk Shake Stout, which honestly folks with the weather warming up like this needs to go, so stop on by the brewery for a pint or three.  As we talked about at the end of last year, FGB is getting slightly back into the beer bottling game. Bottles of Andy Ricks and Andrew's Smoked Pole (A smoked Polish Wheat beer) are still around and yesterday we got GodSpeed You Black Emperor Stout bottled. This is FGB's 5th anniversary beer and will be brewed yearly in November.  Bottles will be dated for all those who want to do a vertical collection. Wait until you see the amazing label artwork from FGB's very own Rick Konopka, Graphics Master.  FGB has been on a bit of a cider kick of late, which a batch of PaulChuck Cider bubbling away. Also there is new version of Graph the Cider of Power we are aging on oak chips that had been soaked in some applejack.  Keep your eyes peeled for a normal batch of Graph the Cider of Power and a spiced version in the near future.

Next week we're expecting to brew a nice brown ale. And the following we we'll be producing a keg or two of Cedar Thaison, one of which will be for export.

First All Grain Beer

Sorry this is so late in coming out. I kinda forgot I started this after the other one went kaput!

Anywho, last Wednesday (see I'm only a week late really) saw Ricks and I brewing FGB's first all grain beer. The beer was a clone of New Belgium's Fat Tire Ale. You maybe remember a version of it from years ago called Fat Tired And Lazy. We'll stick with that name this time around. So despite a few technical difficulties we managed to brew the beer and hit out numbers pretty well, so everything should turn out okay.... we hope. This is the next thing to go on tap once a keg kicks, so be on the look out for it in the next couple weeks.

Up next we're going to crank out a few batches of cider, and then work on a couple summer beers.

New Blog

Hi everyone. As some of you may have noticed, out previous website is kaput! Basically it came down to the fact that the software I was using for it was something I'd been buying from Apple, and since I now only use it for the FGB Website... I decided it wasn't worth the $100 a year. So we've moved!

Exciting things are happening at FGB. New MLT tun has been constructed, a new boil kettle and boil stand have arrived. Pretty soon I'll be braving the winter weather to bring you hopefully even better FGB beer. First up on the new brew system will be an old favorite. Fat Tired and Lazy.
